About Sprinkle Tech

Why Sprinkle?

In the fall of 2018, my wife let me know that we were pregnant with our first child with an inside joke. She got me a Sprinkle Cake, which I had wanted for our wedding, and she thought was ridiculous. I wasn’t expecting what came next. She told me that our child was the size of one of the sprinkles. She’d hidden her phone in the corner and caught a video of the whole thing. I cried some very happy tears.

During the pregnancy and after our daughter was born in the summer of 2019, we spent a lot of time in deep conversations about what we thought we could do to set our children up for success, avoid some of the detours we had both gone through, and generally be prepared to live life to the fullest. My wife and I each made a list of the areas where we thought we had something valuable to add, teach, and explore. And, if all went well, create a legacy that our children would be proud of.

That lead us to registering several domain names in the "Sprinkle" theme. Tech is the first to launch, but we have broader visions planned.

Why Tech?

Ever since I was a young child technology fascinated me. I was playing with a V-Tech toy computer as early as I can remember anything. In my early years, I was lucky enough to get an IBM PS/2 486, which was the basis of me exploring many different projects growing up.

As I went through middle school, high school, and college, I was always the low budget tech kid. Helping families set up new computers, fix viruses or problems with their computers, or using computers to solve business problems, like automating the complex calculation of my parents’ agricultural leases in Access database.

While my day job has never directly been in IT, I’ve been a power user and a key liaison with the IT group for my entire career, leaning heavily on the side of using technology to efficiently solve business problems.

About Me

For more than the past decade, I’ve had the honor of serving as a non-profit Finance leader in food banking, homeless and at-risk youth services, and community centers. I’ve always been looking for better, more efficient tools to accomplish important work in a cost-conscious manner.

I’m married to the love of my life, and we live with our two daughters and our dog Brinkley.

Outside of work, I’m still toying with technology — primarily exploring the cloud and free and open source software to better optimize my productivity at home and at work, and finding fun ways to get my daughters into the hobby.
